The USACH Open Science Innovation in Higher Education (InES) Project was created to generate instruments, develop capacities, and promote governance that allows for the management of the knowledge produced by USACH’s academic community in line with the Open Access and Open Data Policy of the National Agency for Research and Development (ANID).
MAIN PILLARS
Governance: Creation of a steering committee that enables dialogue between the key units of the project in order to work on policies, governance and protocols that strengthen the open access to the knowledge produced by the institution.
Training: Development of activities and dissemination of the benefits of opening knowledge to the community.
Infrastructure: Implementation of a research data repository to manage, provide access to and promote the reuse of data generated or compiled by USACH’s academic community during research.
Networks: Generation of networks both at the national and international level in order to share experiences and good practices, and to disseminate Open Science.
The Open Science Handbook originates from USACH’s Open Science InES Project, which aims to bring closer the concepts of science, access, and open data closer to the university community.
With a view to transforming research and how research results are shared, it is urgent to implement Open Science in the University using this Handbook, as it will help promote innovation, discovery and democratization by implementing the concept ‘Open Science’: to open knowledge.
Promoting Open Science Practices in USACH’s Research This grant fund aims to incentivize open access practices in the institutional research of Universidad de Santiago de Chile. The grant is intended for research teams interested in conducting research according to the guidelines and principles of Open Science. A research fund will be available for the selected proposals, so that they can conduct their studies with the commitment to disclose their methodologies, publications and research results data.
Promoting Open Science Practices in USACH’s Research USACH’s Research Data Repository is a tool implemented with the Dataverse software, that seeks to strengthen the infrastructure, interoperability and access to scientific knowledge generated at USACH. The platform allows the academic community of the University to manage, disseminate and preserve data collected or created during the course of research, making it easily discoverable, accessible, and retrievable by any interested community.
Series of talks “Open Science Breakfast” During the first semester of 2023, the first series of talks was launched to promote awareness and understanding of the Open Science principles among the academic, research and library communities.
