In 2021, Universidad de Santiago demonstrated its excellence to the National Commission for Accreditation (CNA), and was accredited for seven years, the maximum period allowed by this organization, in the categories of undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, institutional management and community outreach.

Year after year, Universidad de Santiago has been recognized by the National Institute of Industrial Property (INAPI) as the third institution in Chile with the highest number of patents granted, and the first public university in this ranking. With this award, USACH has demonstrated a sustained evolution in patenting, which reflects its great interest in effectively contributing to the development of the country and transferring knowledge to society and the different productive sectors.

Dr. Julio Pinto Vallejos, professor at Universidad de Santiago, received the 2016 National History Prize, which is awarded every two years to a researcher of national history or to someone who disseminates it with continuity and nobility. His career includes publications in books and journals on the construction of the Chilean state, the development of the workers’ and popular movements, and the political crises that Chilean society experienced in the 20th century.

On the occasion of the 2019 Festival of Science, Professor at the Department of Physics at USACH and Director of the Center for the Development of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA), Dr. Dora Altbir Drullinsky, received this peer award at Museo Interactivo Mirador, where a commemorative plaque bearing her name was installed.
