Esta tecnolog\u00eda se encuentra patentada en Chile, cuya tramitaci\u00f3n fue apoyada por la Direcci\u00f3n de Gesti\u00f3n Tecnol\u00f3gica de la VRIIC.<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-18a1d6c6\" data-id=\"18a1d6c6\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7b39e775 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7b39e775\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El proceso de incineraci\u00f3n de combustibles f\u00f3siles que realizan las termoel\u00e9ctricas para generar electricidad, es una fuente productora de cenizas volantes.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Este residuo proviene principalmente de la <strong>combusti\u00f3n de carb\u00f3n<\/strong>, pet-coke o madera, present\u00e1ndose en la forma de un polvo muy ligero, fino y de granos muy peque\u00f1os. Dicho material es arrastrado por el flujo de los gases de combusti\u00f3n, por lo cual es eliminado mediante el uso de filtros y precipitadores electrost\u00e1ticos .<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sin embargo, en el rubro de la construcci\u00f3n, <strong>las cenizas volantes son utilizadas para la fabricaci\u00f3n de productos de cemento y hormig\u00f3n<\/strong> tales como ladrillos, bloques, azulejos y pavimentos, entre sus aplicaciones m\u00e1s comunes. Esto, debido a que son resistentes a las temperaturas extremas y eficientes ante problemas de grietas y permeabilidad, entre otros.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Para explorar nuevos usos de este residuo s\u00f3lido, un <strong>equipo de investigaci\u00f3n de la USACH<\/strong> liderado por el <strong>Dr. Jaime Pizarro Konczak<\/strong>, acad\u00e9mico e investigador de la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fing.usach.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda<\/a>, trabaj\u00f3 en el desarrollo de cenizas volantes modificadas usadas como soporte de material mesoporoso funcionalizado que fue utilizado como adsorbente en la remoci\u00f3n de cobre y metales bivalentes, desde aguas industriales y mineras.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En el proyecto participaron investigadores e investigadores provenientes de distintas disciplinas y facultades de nuestra Universidad como la <strong>Dra. Claudia Ortiz Calder\u00f3n<\/strong>, de la Facultad de Qu\u00edmica y Biolog\u00eda; el <strong>Dr. Patricio Navarro Donoso<\/strong>, de la Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda: la <strong>Dra. Ximena Castillo Castillo<\/strong>, de la Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda y el ingeniero<\/span><strong> S<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>ebasti\u00e1n Jara Morales<\/strong>. Adem\u00e1s, se sum\u00f3 el <strong>Dr. Nelson Belzile<\/strong>, investigador de la School of Natural Sciences en\u00a0 Laurentian University, Canad\u00e1.<\/span><\/p><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cLas cenizas volantes son residuos de bajo costo que contienen una importante concentraci\u00f3n de silicio y aluminio. Desde hace algunos a\u00f1os se les modifica qu\u00edmicamente y se usan como soporte de estructuras mesoporosas de s\u00edlice que facilitan la funcionalizaci\u00f3n, mejorando sus capacidades adsorbentes. La modificaci\u00f3n de las cenizas incrementa la capacidad para capturar metales, contaminantes emergentes, se usan en procesos de cat\u00e1lisis y tambi\u00e9n en la captura de gases de efecto invernadero, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">comenta el Dr. Jaime Pizarro.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Un aspecto importante, que el investigador destaca de la tecnolog\u00eda desarrollada en nuestra Universidad, es que aporta mejoras a los procesos productivos y mitigaci\u00f3n ambiental de varias industrias, especialmente en la miner\u00eda. \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Las cenizas volantes modificadas act\u00faan como filtros naturales y poseen una gran capacidad para capturar y remover metales como el cobre, desde las aguas de uso industrial. Asimismo, es una soluci\u00f3n que resulta muy eficiente y de bajo costo\u201d,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> puntualiza el acad\u00e9mico.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En la actualidad, esta tecnolog\u00eda USACH se encuentra con <strong>patente concedida en Chile<\/strong>, tr\u00e1mite que fue apoyado por nuestra Direcci\u00f3n de Gesti\u00f3n
