La investigaci\u00f3n se centra en el <strong>fen\u00f3meno de rebote de las botellas de agua<\/strong> y ha sido seleccionada como Editor&#8217;s Suggestion, destacando su relevancia en el campo de la f\u00edsica.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El estudio ha sido coliderado por el <strong>Dr. Leonardo Gordillo Zavaleta<\/strong>, acad\u00e9mico del Departamento de F\u00edsica y Director del Programa de Doctorado en Ciencia con Menci\u00f3n en F\u00edsica, y el <strong>Dr. Pablo Guti\u00e9rrez Matus<\/strong>, Director del Instituto de Ciencias de la Ingenier\u00eda de la Universidad de O\u2019Higgins, y revela la raz\u00f3n por la cual algunas botellas, al ser agitadas y soltadas, no rebotan, sino que quedan pr\u00e1cticamente pegadas al suelo.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Esta investigaci\u00f3n, seg\u00fan narra el Dr. Gordillo, nace el a\u00f1o 2018 a partir del famoso reto de redes sociales <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">water bottle flip challenge<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> o el reto de la botella, que consist\u00eda en lanzar una botella con un poco de agua en su interior buscando que esta cayera de pie. <\/span><b>\u201cEstuvimos buscando una manera alternativa de agitar el agua dentro de la botella, que fuera reproducible, y nos dimos cuenta que hacer un movimiento de giro orbital, como cuando uno airea una copa de vino, funcionaba s\u00faper bien, era f\u00e1cil de rehacer y adem\u00e1s estimar cu\u00e1nto rebotar\u00eda la botella tras caer al suelo\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, recuerda.<\/span><\/p><p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3663 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/dicyt.usach.cl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/AA38AF52-1473-42B9-AE8D-E4616699E511_1_105_c.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"769\" \/><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Intrigados, decidieron investigarlo en profundidad y desarrollar un sistema experimental para controlar las variables con un impacto significativo en el rebote, incluso adhirieron a la botella una pelota de goma para favorecer y exagerar el efecto del rebote. Sin embargo, \u201c<\/span><b>basta tan solo girar un poco de agua en el interior de la botella y dejarla caer, para que deje de rebotar. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Incluso con la pelota de goma adherida,<\/span><b> \u201cesto es m\u00e1s impresionante, se puede pasar f\u00e1cilmente de un metro de rebote, a mil\u00edmetros. Es como si el girar el contenido de agua hiciera que a la botella le creciera un velcro en la base, y que por ello quedara absolutamente pegada al suelo\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, explica el Dr. Gordillo.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A trav\u00e9s de experimentos y el uso de c\u00e1maras r\u00e1pidas, los investigadores pudieron observar el proceso en detalle y descubrieron una serie de fen\u00f3menos que ocurren dentro de la botella al ser girada y soltada. Despu\u00e9s de hacerla girar, el agua se desplaza hacia las paredes debido a la fuerza centr\u00edfuga. Cuando la botella toca el suelo, el agua en las paredes busca continuar descendiendo, pero se encuentra con la base de la botella, formando un chorro concentrado en el centro que presiona la botella contra el suelo. Este chorro gira a medida que se forma y, al posteriormente tocar la parte superior de la botella, explota en burbujas y gotas microsc\u00f3picas, creando una apariencia blanca, bloqueando difusamente la luz a trav\u00e9s del agua incluso.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De esta forma, el equipo de investigaci\u00f3n ha logrado demostrar que el efecto de pegado al suelo depende de la velocidad de rotaci\u00f3n y la cantidad de agua en el interior de la botella. Estos descubrimientos tienen implicancias pr\u00e1cticas, ya que podr\u00edan servir de fundamento para hacer ingenier\u00eda en variados rubros industriales, como el espacial, particularmente en el dise\u00f1o de tanques de combustible donde la falta de gravedad presenta desaf\u00edos para mantener los objetos en su lugar.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Asimismo, la posibilidad de crear disposiciones de l\u00edquidos que absorben impactos puede ser \u00fatil en diversas industrias. <\/span><b>\u201cCada vez que se transportan l\u00edquidos en tanques, en un container, en un cami\u00f3n aljibe, uno podr\u00eda disponer el l\u00edquido de tal manera que se favorezca la absorci\u00f3n de impactos\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. afirma el Dr. Gordillo.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Por otra parte, el hallazgo podr\u00eda contribuir a modelar fluidos no newtonianos, cuya mec\u00e1nica es especialmente desafiante de predecir, y de los que forman parte much\u00edsimos materiales de las industrias qu\u00edmica, alimentaria, de construcci\u00f3n, entre otras. Algunos ejemplos son las pinturas, la sangre y almidones. Las fuerzas que se generan durante el proceso de rebote entre la botella y pelota, de naturaleza el\u00e1stica, y el agua en el interior de la botella, que es fluida, a\u00f1aden una capa de complejidad a la explicaci\u00f3n del fen\u00f3meno pues permiten la coexistencia de partes que fluyen y que se comprimen simult\u00e1neamente, tal como suceder\u00eda en un material no newtoniano al estar sometido a un impacto.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La publicaci\u00f3n en la revista &#8220;Physical Review Letters&#8221; y su elecci\u00f3n como Editor\u2019s Suggestion subrayan la importancia y relevancia del estudio realizado por la USACH en colaboraci\u00f3n con la UOH. De la misma forma, la organizaci\u00f3n de f\u00edsicos American Physical Society replic\u00f3 este descubrimiento en la revista \u201cPhysics Magazine\u201d, que selecciona peri\u00f3dicamente investigaciones cient\u00edficas con la capacidad de cambiar rumbos en la investigaci\u00f3n e inspirar nuevas formas de pensar.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Con este estudio pionero, la USACH contin\u00faa demostrando su compromiso con la excelencia cient\u00edfica y la investigaci\u00f3n de vanguardia.
