El proyecto es apoyado por Minera Paicavi, la compa\u00f1\u00eda qu\u00edmica BASF, el Centro Integrado de Pilotaje de Tecnolog\u00edas Mineras\u00a0 CIPTEMIN\u00a0 y nuestra Direcci\u00f3n de Gesti\u00f3n Tecnol\u00f3gica\u00a0 de la VRIIC. Adem\u00e1s, se suman las empresas colaboradoras Antofagasta Minerals, WIM e investigadoras\/es\u00a0 internacionales.<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-7ddd62ca\" data-id=\"7ddd62ca\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2d08b55 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2d08b55\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La Universidad de Santiago de Chile y empresas mineras se encuentran trabajando en el <strong>desarrollo de una tecnolog\u00eda de bajo impacto ambiental para obtener cobre<\/strong>, a trav\u00e9s del procesamiento de la calcopirita, mineral que es muy abundante en la corteza terrestre y que entre otros, contiene sulfuro de cobre.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Esta colaboraci\u00f3n se da en el marco de la investigaci\u00f3n aplicada <\/span><b>\u201cDesarrollo de un nuevo proceso de lixiviaci\u00f3n de calcopirita en tres etapas que permite la extracci\u00f3n eficiente de cobre a escala piloto\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, que lidera la <strong>Dra. Lilian Vel\u00e1squez<\/strong>, acad\u00e9mica e investigadora de la Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda (FING), quien adem\u00e1s posee una amplia trayectoria en proyectos para la industria minera.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La iniciativa es financiada por la <a href=\"http:\/\/anid.cl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>ANID<\/strong><\/a> y\u00a0 es apoyada por <strong>Minera Paicavi<\/strong>, la compa\u00f1\u00eda qu\u00edmica\u00a0 alemana <strong>BASF<\/strong>, el Centro Integrado de Pilotaje de Tecnolog\u00edas Mineras <strong>CIPTEMIN<\/strong> y la <strong>Direcci\u00f3n de Gesti\u00f3n Tecnol\u00f3gica<\/strong> (DGT), de la Vicerrector\u00eda de Investigaci\u00f3n, Innovaci\u00f3n y Creaci\u00f3n (VRIIC).\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Asimismo, se suman las empresas colaboradoras Antofagasta Minerals, WIM y un grupo de investigadoras\/ es internacionales como el Dr. Jochen Petersen de la Universidad de Cape Town en Sud\u00e1frica, la Dra. Miao Chang de CSIRO y el Dr. Rahul Ram de BHP Billiton, ambos de Australia.<\/span><\/p><h5><b>Potenciando la miner\u00eda verde<\/b><\/h5><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Esta investigaci\u00f3n parti\u00f3 en octubre de 2022 y culminar\u00e1 a fines de 2024, donde su foco es trabajar en una nueva y m\u00e1s sostenible alternativa para el proceso hidrometal\u00fargico de la calcopirita, lo que finalmente puede impactar en potenciar una miner\u00eda m\u00e1s verde.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tal como explica la <strong>Dra. Lilian Vel\u00e1squez<\/strong>, este mineral com\u00fanmente se procesa <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cpor v\u00eda de concentraci\u00f3n para luego fundirlo, lo cual puede generar contaminaci\u00f3n ambiental, debido a la producci\u00f3n de gases t\u00f3xicos. Adem\u00e1s, se requieren grandes vol\u00famenes de agua para concentrarlo\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Para dar soluci\u00f3n a esa problem\u00e1tica, el proyecto propone la utilizaci\u00f3n de agua de mar, sales de descartes, salmuera proveniente de empresas desalinizadoras y de una menor cantidad de soluciones \u00e1cidas. \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tambi\u00e9n aportamos a la econom\u00eda circular, al usar un reactivo obtenido de los desechos de la agroindustria\u201d,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> enfatiza.<\/span><\/p><h5><b>Vinculaci\u00f3n y participaci\u00f3n de la industria<\/b><\/h5><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cabe destacar que el proceso que se busca implementar consta de tres etapas de trabajo: Inundaci\u00f3n, reposo temperado y lixiviaci\u00f3n.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A nivel de laboratorio, cada una de las fases ya ha sido testeada por separado, obteni\u00e9ndose \u00f3ptimos resultados. Por lo mismo, es que el objetivo actual del equipo de investigaci\u00f3n que dirige la Dra. Vel\u00e1squez, es poder conectarlas y posteriormente, crear un prototipo en un entorno industrial\u00a0 que permita <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cdemostrar que podemos disolver la calcopirita y obtener el cobre\u201d,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> dice la acad\u00e9mica.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tanto para el trabajo actual como para la creaci\u00f3n y testeo del piloto\u00a0 se cuenta con el apoyo de las entidades participantes. En el caso de Minera Paicavi, ha suministrado grandes cantidades de calcopirita para ser usadas en experimentaci\u00f3n en el laboratorio y adem\u00e1s, disponibilizar\u00e1 sus instalaciones para probar la tecnolog\u00eda a escala piloto.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tambi\u00e9n tiene un rol clave CIPTEMIN, el cual contribuir\u00e1 validando este desarrollo con sello USACH. En cuanto a la empresa BASF, la investigadora se\u00f1ala que <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cproveen reactivos a las plantas hidrometal\u00fargicas en nuestro pa\u00eds y para nuestra iniciativa, nos est\u00e1n aportando con capacidad de recursos humanos, disponiendo a un equipo experto para trabajar con nosotros\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p><h5><b>Equidad de g\u00e9nero y conocimiento<\/b><\/h5><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Uno de los aspectos que resalta la Investigadora en relaci\u00f3n a esta iniciativa, es la incorporaci\u00f3n de<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201cuna componente de g\u00e9nero, en donde esperamos incentivar, motivar y potenciar a nuestras estudiantes e investigadoras, lo cual esperamos sea ejemplificador para las nuevas investigaciones que se puedan generar a nivel nacional e internacional\u201d.<\/span><\/i><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finalmente, la <strong>Dra.
