Cristina Villamar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Departamento:<\/strong>&nbsp;Ingenier\u00eda en Obras Civiles (Laboratorio de Investigaci\u00f3n Interdisciplinaria en Ciencias y Tecnolog\u00eda del Agua Ko-Yaku).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tipo de proyecto:&nbsp;<\/strong>FONDECYT INICIACI\u00d3N.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Resumen del proyecto:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los productos farmac\u00e9uticos y de cuidado personal (PPCPs) provenientes de residuos l\u00edquidos dom\u00e9sticos est\u00e1n teniendo relevancia debido a su pseudo persistencia y potenciales problemas a la salud humana y riesgo al ambiente acu\u00e1tico. La biofiltraci\u00f3n es el proceso m\u00e1s utilizado para tratar residuos l\u00edquidos dom\u00e9sticos rurales; sin embargo, su impacto en la eliminaci\u00f3n de PPCP se ha evaluado solo en algunos procesos (p. ej., \u201chumedales construidos\u201d). Por tanto, no se han comparado tipolog\u00edas de biofiltraci\u00f3n ni se han estudiado nuevos procesos de biofiltraci\u00f3n (biofiltraci\u00f3n h\u00edbrida). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As\u00ed, el objetivo de esta propuesta de investigaci\u00f3n es evaluar la incidencia de los procesos de biofiltraci\u00f3n en la remoci\u00f3n de PPCPs de residuos l\u00edquidos dom\u00e9sticos. La metodolog\u00eda se estructurar\u00eda en 4 objetivos espec\u00edficos relacionados con a) establecer la composici\u00f3n t\u00edpica de los PPCP de residuos l\u00edquidos dom\u00e9sticos locales, b) determinar las condiciones \u00f3ptimas de los procesos de biofiltraci\u00f3n e c) identificar la funci\u00f3n, y d) los mecanismos involucrados a nivel espacio-temporal con respecto a la remoci\u00f3n de PPCPs dentro de los procesos de biofiltraci\u00f3n. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El cumplimiento del objetivo 1 podr\u00eda llevarse a cabo a trav\u00e9s de la caracterizaci\u00f3n fisicoqu\u00edmica de los PPCP dentro de Plantas de Tratamiento de Residuos L\u00edquidos Dom\u00e9sticos (PT-RLD) rurales locales a escala espacial y temporal. El objetivo 2 se llevar\u00eda a cabo mediante 3 tipos de ensayos: adsorci\u00f3n, compatibilidad e hidr\u00e1ulico. El ensayo de adsorci\u00f3n podr\u00eda evaluar el tama\u00f1o \u00f3ptimo del material (capa activa), utilizando concentraciones promedio reales de al menos 3 PPCPs (el m\u00e1s polar, el m\u00e1s lipof\u00edlico y el de mayor riesgo ambiental). Se podr\u00e1n realizar ensayos de compatibilidad sobre materiales no inertes (org\u00e1nicos), donde se podr\u00e1 determinar su concentraci\u00f3n \u00f3ptima respecto a efectos no observados sobre plantas y lombrices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finalmente, se realizar\u00edan ensayos hidr\u00e1ulicos para establecer las condiciones hidr\u00e1ulicas \u00f3ptimas de los biofiltros, evaluando la conductividad hidr\u00e1ulica y el taponamiento a tasas hidr\u00e1ulicas de 0,5 a 3 m3\/m2-d\u00eda. Los objetivos 3 y 4 evaluar\u00edan la funci\u00f3n y los mecanismos involucrados dentro del tratamiento de PPCP en biofiltros. Un modelo experimental basado en el seguimiento de 3 tipos de biofiltros h\u00edbridos (T0 = biofiltro, T1 = \u201cvermifiltro\u201d, T2 = \u201chumedal artificial\u201d y T3 = biofiltro h\u00edbrido) y cada uno con al menos 2 tipos de materiales (convencional\/no convencional) podr\u00eda ser estudiado. Cada biofiltro estar\u00eda compuesto por 3 capas (activa, de transici\u00f3n y de soporte), donde la capa activa podr\u00eda ser de al menos un material convencional y no convencional de origen org\u00e1nico y\/o inorg\u00e1nico. Tanto la escala temporal como la espacial podr\u00edan ser consideradas dentro de este estudio. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El monitoreo espacial de los biofiltros podr\u00eda llevarse a cabo mediante la determinaci\u00f3n del contenido de PPCP (medios filtrantes, efluentes de residuos l\u00edquidos dom\u00e9sticos) dentro de cada capa. El seguimiento temporal ser\u00e1 anual. Finalmente, se medir\u00e1 el contenido de PPCP en plantas, lombrices de tierra, medios filtrantes y residuos l\u00edquidos dom\u00e9sticos. En el objetivo 1, el proyecto extendi\u00f3 su marco de acci\u00f3n monitoreando adem\u00e1s contaminantes emergentes microbiol\u00f3gicos, incluyendo la detecci\u00f3n e identificaci\u00f3n de SARS-CoV-2, Norovirus G1 y G2 y Hepatitis A, apoyados por el Dr. Aldo Gaggero de la Universidad de Chile. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los resultados esperados de la presente propuesta de investigaci\u00f3n se describen de acuerdo con los objetivos mencionados. a) El objetivo 1 establecer\u00eda preliminarmente la composici\u00f3n t\u00edpica de los PPCPs residuos l\u00edquidos dom\u00e9sticos rurales locales, incluyendo carga viral incluyendo SARS-CoV-2. Adem\u00e1s, el monitoreo dentro de las PT- RLDs locales determinar\u00eda si las PT-RLDs actuales tienen la funci\u00f3n de eliminaci\u00f3n de PPCPs, siendo tambi\u00e9n factible observar c\u00f3mo se comportan en condiciones reales algunas tecnolog\u00edas de biofiltraci\u00f3n (por ejemplo, vermifiltros, humedales construidos) instaladas. El objetivo 2 delimitar\u00eda los criterios de desempe\u00f1o \u00f3ptimo de los procesos de biofiltraci\u00f3n, lo que podr\u00eda facilitar la comprensi\u00f3n del potencial de cada componente (bi\u00f3tico\/abi\u00f3tico) en la elimiaci\u00f3n de PPCPs. Finalmente, los objetivos 3 y 4 identificar\u00edan la funci\u00f3n de cada tipo de biofiltro respecto a la eliminaci\u00f3n de PPCPs. Adem\u00e1s, el estudio temporal y espacial de los mecanismos involucrados dentro de cada tipo de biofiltro, definir\u00eda el nivel de contribuci\u00f3n de cada componente (bi\u00f3tico\/abi\u00f3tico) bajo sus diferentes variantes y esto abordar\u00eda un modelo cin\u00e9tico de completo respecto a la eliminaci\u00f3n de PPCPs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Durante el desarrollo de la presente propuesta de investigaci\u00f3n se han venido generado publicaciones WOS, y actualmente ya se han publicado 7 art\u00edculos y al menos 4 m\u00e1s en revisi\u00f3n. Respecto a difusi\u00f3n, el proyecto que termina este a\u00f1o, realizar\u00e1 2 actividades de difusi\u00f3n cient\u00edfica en la Universidad, uno con los integrantes del proyecto y otra invitando al profesor Carlos Arias de la Universidad de Aarhus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Durante todo el proyecto, hemos asistido a 6 congresos nacionales e internacionales y a ferias cient\u00edficas de Explora-ANID y la USACH. Hemos generado estrecha colaboraci\u00f3n con el profesor Victor Guerrero de la Escuela Polit\u00e9cnica Nacional del Ecuador, Lisiane Santos de la Universidad Federal de Sergipe de Brasil y trabajado con otros investigadores de la USACH.
