Claudia Ortiz, investigadora responsable del Laboratorio de Bioqu\u00edmica Vegetal y Fitorremediaci\u00f3n, lider\u00f3 el desarrollo de un innovador sistema de tratamiento de agua para la industria minera, que captura el cobre que queda en los caudales. Hoy esta tecnolog\u00eda se encuentra patentada en Chile, tr\u00e1mite que fue apoyado por la <\/b><b>Direcci\u00f3n de Gesti\u00f3n Tecnol\u00f3gica de la Vridei.<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-60a0fd0c\" data-id=\"60a0fd0c\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7926fde3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7926fde3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El agua es uno de los recursos m\u00e1s importantes en la industria minera, pues su uso es clave para el desarrollo de las distintas tareas involucradas en las faenas, entre las cuales se encuentra el procesamiento de los metales.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sin embargo, uno de los grandes problemas que el sector quiere resolver es la p\u00e9rdida de agua. De hecho, el\u00a0 95 % de la que ingresa a las plantas concentradoras pasa a formar parte de los relaves y es reutilizada, pero la saturaci\u00f3n con elementos y compuestos qu\u00edmicos disminuyen su calidad, limitando las posibilidades de obtener aquellos minerales que quedan atrapados en caudal. Ejemplo de ello, es el cobre, donde existe un gran inter\u00e9s por recuperar el metal desde residuos l\u00edquidos.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Junto con lo anterior, otra de las dificultades que enfrenta la industria es el alto costo de los tratamientos para mejorar la eficiencia y calidad del recurso h\u00eddrico, lo cual es necesario para el desarrollo de las actividades productivas y minimizar los impactos ambientales del proceso.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Frente a esas distintas problem\u00e1ticas, un equipo de investigaci\u00f3n de la Universidad de Santiago, liderado por la <strong>Dra. Claudia Ortiz<\/strong>, investigadora responsable del Laboratorio de Bioqu\u00edmica Vegetal y Fitorremediaci\u00f3n, crearon un innovador y sustentable sistema de tratamiento de agua para la miner\u00eda que, adem\u00e1s, logra recuperar el cobre que permanece en los residuos l\u00edquidos.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00bfDe qu\u00e9 se trata la tecnolog\u00eda? Tal como comenta la Dra. Claudia Ortiz, lo que se busca es \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">desarrollar filtros biol\u00f3gicos reutilizables, en base a biomasa de algas pardas chilenas y piedra p\u00f3mez, los cuales poseen una alta capacidad para adsorber, es decir capturar y retener el cobre desde los efluentes que contienen este metal\u201d.<\/span><\/i><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La acad\u00e9mica destaca que la invenci\u00f3n representa importantes beneficios para el rubro minero, mediante una soluci\u00f3n amplia, eficiente y de bajo costo para mejorar la calidad del recurso h\u00eddrico y optimizar los procesos productivos.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Asimismo, resalta que el desarrollo de sistemas de filtros biol\u00f3gicos, permiten <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201caumentar el ciclo de vida del agua de proceso, haciendo m\u00e1s eficiente su uso\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0 A\u00f1ade, que tambi\u00e9n <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cse obtiene un beneficio ambiental, al disminuir el contenido de cobre, cuya presencia en el medioambiente representa un problema global, debido a la persistencia, bioacumulaci\u00f3n y toxicidad en los organismos vivos\u201d.<\/span><\/i><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En la actualidad, esta tecnolog\u00eda Usach se encuentra con patente concedida en Chile, con foco en la industria minera.
