Marina Stepanova y el Dr. V\u00edctor Pinto, ambos acad\u00e9micos del Departamento de F\u00edsica, participan en un proyecto Fondef para crear un sistema nacional piloto, que permita monitorear el tiempo espacial y generar alertas tempranas frente a fen\u00f3menos solares que afectan la geolocalizaci\u00f3n y las telecomunicaciones, entre otros. La iniciativa es desarrollada junto a la Universidad Adventista y la Universidad de Chile, tiene como entidad asociada a la Direcci\u00f3n Meteorol\u00f3gica de Chile, y recibe el apoyo de la Direcci\u00f3n de Gesti\u00f3n Tecnol\u00f3gica de la Vriic.<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-39191f46 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"39191f46\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Industrias como el transporte, la log\u00edstica, la miner\u00eda, la pesca y la agricultura dependen de tecnolog\u00edas basadas en redes de conectividad y localizaci\u00f3n satelital, como el GNSS, donde la precisi\u00f3n en la geolocalizaci\u00f3n es clave para su operaci\u00f3n. Sin embargo, estas aplicaciones pueden verse alteradas por perturbaciones originadas en la actividad solar, lo que genera errores en el posicionamiento, interrupciones en las comunicaciones o fallas en sistemas cr\u00edticos.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pese a que en Chile existen equipos cient\u00edficos que investigan dichos fen\u00f3menos desde hace a\u00f1os, el pa\u00eds a\u00fan no cuenta con una tecnolog\u00eda capaz de generar predicciones y alertas tempranas para mitigar oportunamente los efectos de estos.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Frente a este escenario, en la <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usach.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Universidad de Santiago de Chile<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Usach) se desarrolla el proyecto <\/span><b>Fondef \u201cDesarrollo e Implementaci\u00f3n de Plataforma de Meteorolog\u00eda Espacial en Chile\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, en el cual participan como <\/span><b>directora alterna, la Dra. Marina Stepanova, y el Dr. V\u00edctor Pinto,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ambos acad\u00e9micos e investigadores del <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fisica.usach.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Departamento de F\u00edsica\u00a0 <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">de la Facultad de Ciencia de nuestro Plantel.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La iniciativa se ejecuta en conjunto con la <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Universidad Adventista de Chile<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> como entidad principal, y la <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/uchile.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Universidad de Chile<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, y siendo entidad asociada\u00a0 la <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.meteochile.gob.cl\/PortalDMC-web\/index.xhtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Direcci\u00f3n Meteorol\u00f3gica de Chile<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Adem\u00e1s, recibe el apoyo de la Vicerrector\u00eda de Investigaci\u00f3n, Innovaci\u00f3n y Creaci\u00f3n (Vriic), a trav\u00e9s de la Direcci\u00f3n de Gesti\u00f3n Tecnol\u00f3gica (DGT).<\/span><\/p><p><b>Su objetivo es dise\u00f1ar y levantar una plataforma piloto en nuestro pa\u00eds, que permita monitorear en tiempo real las condiciones del clima espacial, generar alertas y disponer de una base de datos abierta para la comunidad cient\u00edfica, as\u00ed como para organismos p\u00fablicos y privados.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> A trav\u00e9s de este sistema, los usuarios podr\u00e1n acceder a reportes sobre eventos solares, tormentas geomagn\u00e9ticas, impactos esperados y recomendaciones de mitigaci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Para sustentar esta tecnolog\u00eda, los equipos acad\u00e9micos de las universidades participantes pondr\u00e1n a disposici\u00f3n los conocimientos y capacidades desarrollados en distintas \u00e1reas de la f\u00edsica espacial. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cNuestro aporte como equipo Usach estar\u00e1 centrado en el estudio del viento solar y la magnet\u00f3sfera, mientras que el Dr. Manuel Bravo, investigador de la Universidad Adventista de Chile y director del proyecto, contribuir\u00e1 con su experiencia en investigaci\u00f3n de la ion\u00f3sfera, \u00e1rea en la cual es uno de los mayores expertos a nivel latinoamericano\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, se\u00f1ala la Dra. Marina Stepanova.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tambi\u00e9n se contempla la instalaci\u00f3n de repositorios locales de datos y\u00a0 el fortalecimiento de la instrumentaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica en Chile, incluyendo el desarrollo de sensores, lo que permitir\u00e1 robustecer las capacidades nacionales de observaci\u00f3n espacial. Una vez desarrollada la tecnolog\u00eda, la validaci\u00f3n de los modelos se realizar\u00e1 en comparaci\u00f3n con est\u00e1ndares y desarrollos internacionales, asegurando su calidad y confiabilidad.<\/span><\/p><h2><b>Impactos esperados<\/b><\/h2><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEste tipo de proyectos nos permite avanzar desde la ciencia b\u00e1sica hacia soluciones aplicadas con impacto directo en la sociedad. Queremos generar una herramienta que no solo aporte al conocimiento cient\u00edfico, sino que tambi\u00e9n al desarrollo y la seguridad tecnol\u00f3gica del pa\u00eds\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a\u00f1ade el <\/span><b>Dr. V\u00edctor Pinto<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p><p><b>En este contexto, el investigador enfatiza que la plataforma ser\u00e1 clave para fortalecer la autonom\u00eda tecnol\u00f3gica local.<\/b> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cActualmente dependemos de mediciones provenientes de Estados Unidos y Europa. Este proyecto nos ayudar\u00e1 a avanzar hacia la construcci\u00f3n de una red nacional de instrumentos que nos permita monitorear datos y, al mismo tiempo, aportar a las redes globales para generar predicciones m\u00e1s precisas\u201d,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> explica.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Tambi\u00e9n a\u00f1ade que una de sus principales caracter\u00edsticas ser\u00e1 su enfoque multisectorial, considerando las necesidades de los diversos usuarios. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Por ejemplo, los sectores mar\u00edtimo y aeron\u00e1utico podr\u00e1n anticipar disrupciones en las comunicaciones y la navegaci\u00f3n. Adicionalmente, la aeron\u00e1utica podr\u00e1 acceder a informaci\u00f3n sobre niveles de radiaci\u00f3n en altura que podr\u00edan afectar la seguridad de los vuelos. Asimismo, las industrias que utilizan sistemas GNSS podr\u00e1n prever posibles errores en la geolocalizaci\u00f3n.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Otro impacto que se espera a futuro es fortalecer la formaci\u00f3n disciplinar en f\u00edsica espacial en el pregrado y postgrado,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> en donde estudiantes participan en el desarrollo de modelos que se busca ofrecer en la plataforma. De esa manera, se podr\u00eda potenciar<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u201cla formaci\u00f3n de capital humano avanzado en esta \u00e1rea estrat\u00e9gica\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, comenta la Dra.
