Violeta Chang, investigadora de la Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda, lidera el proyecto Fondef IDeA I+D 2025 \u201cIdentificaci\u00f3n de comportamientos an\u00f3malos para la fiscalizaci\u00f3n eficiente de descartes pesquero a trav\u00e9s de modelos multimodales de Inteligencia Artificial\u201d, que busca agilizar el proceso de supervisi\u00f3n en la industria pesquera. Se cuenta con la colaboraci\u00f3n de Sernapesca y la empresa IO-SAT Chile, m\u00e1s el apoyo de la Direcci\u00f3n de Gesti\u00f3n Tecnol\u00f3gica\u00a0 de la Vriic.<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-39701c3a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"39701c3a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"field field-name-post-date field-type-ds field-label-hidden\"><div class=\"field-items\"><div class=\"field-item even\"><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El uso de sistemas de Inteligencia Artificial (IA) est\u00e1 transformando a m\u00faltiples industrias y organizaciones, agilizando sus procesos, aumentando su eficiencia e incluso, haci\u00e9ndolas m\u00e1s sostenibles.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En el caso de la fiscalizaci\u00f3n pesquera en Chile, estas tecnolog\u00edas podr\u00edan representar un cambio significativo, particularmente en la detecci\u00f3n del descarte que deben realizar los barcos industriales. Dicha pr\u00e1ctica consiste en devolver al mar las especies capturadas de forma incidental que no corresponden a la especie objetivo.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Frente a esta problem\u00e1tica, la Universidad de Santiago de Chile (Usach) propone una soluci\u00f3n inteligente que permita monitorear en tiempo real el descarte en embarcaciones industriales de entre 15 y 18 metros de largo. <\/span><b>Este desarrollo busca hacer m\u00e1s eficiente el control de estas pr\u00e1cticas, combinando IA con sistemas de comunicaci\u00f3n satelital.<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Esta investigaci\u00f3n aplicada es <\/span><b>financiada por ANID y dirigida por la Dra. Violeta Chang, investigadora en el <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/informatica.usach.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda Inform\u00e1tica<\/b><\/a><b> de la <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/fing.usach.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda<\/b><b>.<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Adem\u00e1s, cuenta con la <\/span><b>colaboraci\u00f3n de las entidades asociadas\u00a0 <\/b><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sernapesca.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sernapesca<\/a> <\/b><b>(Servicio Nacional de Pesca y Acuicultura)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, como receptora y evaluadora de la tecnolog\u00eda, y la <\/span><b>empresa <\/b><b>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.io-sat.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IO-SAT Chile<\/a><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, experta en servicios de conectividad y monitoreo satelital. Su ejecuci\u00f3n es apoyada por la <\/span><b>Vicerrector\u00eda de Investigaci\u00f3n, Innovaci\u00f3n y Creaci\u00f3n (Vriic<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), a trav\u00e9s de su <\/span><b>Direcci\u00f3n de Gesti\u00f3n Tecnol\u00f3gica (DGT).<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cabe resaltar, que junto a la Dra. Violeta Chang, el equipo de investigaci\u00f3n est\u00e1 integrado por el Dr. Gonzalo Acu\u00f1a (Director Alterno), Dr. Felipe Hurtado, Dr. Manuel Villalobos y la Mg. Anal\u00ed Alfaro.<\/span><\/p><h2><b>Innovaci\u00f3n con modelos IA\u00a0<\/b><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seg\u00fan explica la Dra. Chang, la iniciativa surge para dar una soluci\u00f3n concreta a la fiscalizaci\u00f3n que realiza Sernapesca. Si bien, se exige a los barcos la instalaci\u00f3n de c\u00e1maras a bordo, las grabaciones se almacenan en discos duros que pueden demorar hasta un a\u00f1o en ser revisados manualmente, lo que retrasa su monitoreo y limita la acci\u00f3n legal, en caso de infracciones.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El descarte es un problema que requiere tanto soluciones t\u00e9cnicas como regulatorias, para reducir su impacto en los ecosistemas marinos y avanzar hacia una pesca m\u00e1s sostenible\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, se\u00f1ala la acad\u00e9mica.<\/span><\/p><p><b>En ese contexto, dice que \u201c<\/b><b><i>nuestra propuesta tecnol\u00f3gica se basa en modelos de IA auto supervisados y multimodales, capaces de integrar informaci\u00f3n como video, ubicaci\u00f3n y velocidad de navegaci\u00f3n para detectar anomal\u00edas y emitir alertas satelitales autom\u00e1ticas a las autoridades competentes\u201d<\/i><\/b><b>.<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Desde Sernapesca valoran la colaboraci\u00f3n\u00a0 con nuestra Universidad, a trav\u00e9s del desarrollo de esta tecnolog\u00eda. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEsto es un gran paso, porque nos va a permitir ser mucho m\u00e1s eficientes y efectivos en la fiscalizaci\u00f3n de descarte, contribuyendo a la sustentabilidad de los recursos pesqueros. De esta forma, vamos a cuidar mucho m\u00e1s la biodiversidad y la salud de los oc\u00e9anos\u201d,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> comenta <\/span><b>Mar\u00eda Soledad Tapia, Directora Nacional<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> de este servicio.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><h2><b>Capacidades de I+D<\/b><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El equipo liderado por la Dra. Chang cuenta con amplia experiencia en el desarrollo de soluciones tecnol\u00f3gicas basadas en videoan\u00e1lisis, aplicadas anteriormente en sectores como la miner\u00eda, salud y medioambiente. <\/span><b>En la ejecuci\u00f3n del proyecto contar\u00e1 con el apoyo t\u00e9cnico de la empresa <\/b><b>IO-SAT, <\/b><b>que aportar\u00e1 toda su experiencia en comunicaci\u00f3n satelital\u00a0 para zonas complejas o de dif\u00edcil acceso.<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El trabajo investigativo contempla una duraci\u00f3n de dos a\u00f1os y se estructura en cuatro etapas. La primera considera la creaci\u00f3n de una base de datos, con la recopilaci\u00f3n y anotaci\u00f3n de videos. en conjunto con Sernapesca. En la segunda, \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">se desarrollar\u00e1 el modelo de IA que permitir\u00e1 el an\u00e1lisis automatizado de las grabaciones y la detecci\u00f3n en l\u00ednea de comportamientos an\u00f3malos, a trav\u00e9s de un proceso iterativo de mejora\u201d,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> precisa la Dra. Chang.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En tanto, en la tercera fase se construir\u00e1 un prototipo f\u00edsico, integrando todos los componentes de IA y comunicaci\u00f3n satelital. Con el software y el hardware ya testeados a nivel de laboratorio, en la cuarta etapa se realizar\u00e1 la validaci\u00f3n de esta tecnolog\u00eda en un ambiente real, consistente en <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cla instalaci\u00f3n y funcionamiento del dispositivo en una embarcaci\u00f3n asignada por Sernapesca\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, acota la acad\u00e9mica.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Se espera que este desarrollo avance desde un nivel de madurez tecnol\u00f3gica de TRL 2 hasta TRL 5. <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nuestro objetivo es aportar una herramienta concreta que modernice el proceso de la fiscalizaci\u00f3n, fortalezca la protecci\u00f3n de la biodiversidad marina y contribuya a mitigar los efectos del cambio clim\u00e1tico\u201d, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">concluye la Dra.
