La innovaci\u00f3n fue desarrollada por el Dr. Ricardo Vega, investigador de la Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda, y en su ejecuci\u00f3n\u00a0 cont\u00f3 con el apoyo de la Vicerrector\u00eda de Investigaci\u00f3n, Innovaci\u00f3n y Creaci\u00f3n.<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-62406c64 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"62406c64\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"field field-name-post-date field-type-ds field-label-hidden\"><div class=\"field-items\"><div class=\"field-item even\"><p><b>Reducir costos de inversi\u00f3n, operaci\u00f3n y mantenimiento, minimizar el riesgo y el impacto ambiental, transformando la refinaci\u00f3n del iodo en<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong> un proceso<\/strong> <\/span><b>continuo, son las principales ventajas de Fusi\u00f3n Aut\u00f3gena de Iodo (FAI).<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Esta innovaci\u00f3n desarrollada en nuestra Universidad de Santiago (Usach), hoy\u00a0 busca dar un salto hacia su transferencia al mercado, tras ser patentada en Estados Unidos. La nueva protecci\u00f3n se suma a las ya obtenidas en Chile y Jap\u00f3n, dos de los principales productores mundiales del mineral, el cual es altamente demandado por \u00e1reas como las farmac\u00e9utica, alimentaria y electr\u00f3nica.<\/span><\/p><p><b>La tecnolog\u00eda surgi\u00f3 como respuesta concreta a las problem\u00e1ticas hist\u00f3ricas de la producci\u00f3n del iodo, marcada por procesos discontinuos, costosos y con elevados riesgos ambientales.\u00a0<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En Jap\u00f3n, el iodo se extrae desde pozos petrol\u00edferos, cuyos costos operacionales son muy elevados, mientras que en Chile se obtiene del caliche, donde los mayores desaf\u00edos surgen en la etapa de refinamiento. En ambos casos, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cFusi\u00f3n Aut\u00f3gena de Iodo representa una alternativa eficiente, segura y sustentable\u201d,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> se\u00f1ala el <\/span><b>Dr. Ricardo Vega, investigador de la Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda y\u00a0 quien lidera el desarrollo de esta invenci\u00f3n.\u00a0<\/b><\/p><p><b>Otras ventajas son que <\/b><b><i>\u201cpermite automatizar y hacer m\u00e1s eficiente la etapa de refinaci\u00f3n, disminuyendo p\u00e9rdidas por sublimaci\u00f3n, reduciendo la huella ambiental y mejorando la calidad final del producto\u201d<\/i><\/b><b>, detalla.\u00a0<\/b><\/p><h2><b>I+D con impacto<\/b><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El respaldo a la propiedad intelectual ha sido clave en este proceso. La Direcci\u00f3n de Gesti\u00f3n Tecnol\u00f3gica (DGT) de la Usach acompa\u00f1\u00f3 la tramitaci\u00f3n en los distintos pa\u00edses, abriendo as\u00ed la puerta a su transferencia efectiva.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><b><i>\u201cLa obtenci\u00f3n de tres patentes a nivel internacional, no solo representa un logro para la Usach, sino tambi\u00e9n es un paso clave para que una innovaci\u00f3n tecnol\u00f3gica chilena se posicione en los grandes mercados del mundo\u201d,<\/i><\/b><b> destaca Rodrigo Morgado, director de la DGT.<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tambi\u00e9n enfatiza que este tipo de innovaci\u00f3n es un ejemplo concreto de c\u00f3mo la investigaci\u00f3n aplicada universitaria puede generar soluciones a desaf\u00edos productivos globales de la miner\u00eda no met\u00e1lica.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><h2><b>Escalamiento tecnol\u00f3gico<\/b><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cabe destacar que FAI ya ha sido <\/span><b>implementada a nivel de prototipo pre-industrial y probada exitosamente en estas condiciones<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, para lo cual se ha tenido la colaboraci\u00f3n de la empresa Autoterm.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">S\u00f3lo el prototipo tiene una \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">capacidad de<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">producci\u00f3n de m\u00e1s del 10% de la producci\u00f3n nacional del iodo; su costo y tama\u00f1o permitir\u00edan su implementaci\u00f3n pr\u00e1cticamente en cada sitio de extracci\u00f3n\u201d aunque su <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">escalamiento a \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">un equipo de 300 litros podr\u00eda llegar a ser
