font-size: 11pt; white-space-collapse: preserve;\">para comprender c\u00f3mo se forman planetas en otros sistemas estelares.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-cd2e9d1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"cd2e9d1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"field field-name-post-date field-type-ds field-label-hidden\"><div class=\"field-items\"><div class=\"field-item even\"><p>Una reciente investigaci\u00f3n internacional, que combina datos del <strong>radiotelescopio ALMA y simulaciones computacionales avanzadas<\/strong>, ha logrado por primera vez reproducir una secuencia evolutiva de discos protoplanetarios, estructuras de gas y polvo donde se forman los planetas. El estudio, publicado en <em>The Astrophysical Journal Letters,<\/em> fortalece la hip\u00f3tesis de que muchas de las estructuras observadas en estos discos, como anillos y brechas, son consecuencia directa de la formaci\u00f3n planetaria.<\/p><p>El trabajo fue liderado por el investigador Santiago Orcajo, del Instituto de Astrof\u00edsica de La Plata (Argentina), en el marco del <strong>N\u00facleo Milenio para el estudio de Exoplanetas<\/strong> J\u00f3venes y sus Lunas (YEMS), que re\u00fane a investigadoras e investigadores de cuatro universidades chilenas, entre ellas la Universidad de Santiago de Chile (Usach).<\/p><p>\u201cLa investigaci\u00f3n demuestra que es posible interpretar la diversidad de morfolog\u00edas observadas en los discos protoplanetarios como una secuencia natural del proceso de formaci\u00f3n de planetas\u201d, explica el Dr. Sebasti\u00e1n P\u00e9rez M\u00e1rquez, acad\u00e9mico del Departamento de F\u00edsica de la Usach e investigador del N\u00facleo YEMS y del Centro CIRAS de nuestra casa de estudios. \u201cEste trabajo aporta una nueva mirada sobre uno de los descubrimientos m\u00e1s ic\u00f3nicos de ALMA, abriendo nuevas rutas para comprender <strong>c\u00f3mo se forman planetas en otros sistemas estelares<\/strong>\u201d, agreg\u00f3.<\/p><p>El modelo propuesto clasifica los discos en cinco etapas evolutivas. En las fases tempranas, los discos muestran escasa estructura, mientras que en etapas posteriores surgen vac\u00edos, anillos y cavidades que reflejan la interacci\u00f3n gravitacional de planetas en crecimiento con el material del disco.<\/p><p>Para realizar este trabajo se necesit\u00f3 de la experticia en inform\u00e1tica del acad\u00e9mico del Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda Inform\u00e1tica de la Usach, el Dr. Fernando Rannou. \u201cSe construy\u00f3 un pipeline complejo y de alto costo computacional para simular lo m\u00e1s realistamente posible el proceso evolutivo, desde la migraci\u00f3n del polvo con PlanetaLP, transferencia radiativa con RADMC3D, y la observaci\u00f3n interferom\u00e9trica de c\u00f3mo lo ver\u00eda el telescopio ALMA\u201d, destaca el profesor Rannou.<\/p><p>La investigaci\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n subraya la rapidez con la que pueden formarse planetas gigantes, incluso en regiones alejadas de sus estrellas, y plantea interrogantes sobre los mecanismos f\u00edsicos que permiten tales procesos. \u201cDetectar planetas en formaci\u00f3n sigue siendo uno de los grandes desaf\u00edos para entender la <strong>evoluci\u00f3n de sistemas planetarios<\/strong> como el nuestro\u201d, agrega el Dr. P\u00e9rez.<\/p><p>Esta investigaci\u00f3n es importante para la Usach, ya que no solo aporta al r\u00e9cord de publicaciones en <strong>revistas de alto impacto<\/strong>, sino tambi\u00e9n porque sigue catapultando el exitoso aporte de nuestra casa de estudios a la astronom\u00eda nacional.<\/p><p>El estudio es un ejemplo del impacto global de la astronom\u00eda chilena y del potencial de las colaboraciones cient\u00edficas internacionales. En particular, resalta el rol de la Usach en proyectos de frontera, que integran observaci\u00f3n astron\u00f3mica de vanguardia con modelaci\u00f3n f\u00edsica y desarrollo computacional.<\/p><p>El N\u00facleo Milenio YEMS es financiado por la Agencia Nacional de Investigaci\u00f3n y Desarrollo (ANID) y re\u00fane a equipos de la Universidad Diego Portales, la Universidad de Santiago, la Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica de Chile y la Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n.
