Claudia Ortiz Calder\u00f3n, investigadora de la Facultad de Qu\u00edmica y Biolog\u00eda, lidera esta investigaci\u00f3n aplicada, que busca entregar una herramienta sostenible para enfrentar la creciente degradaci\u00f3n de suelos agr\u00edcolas en Chile. La iniciativa cuenta con la colaboraci\u00f3n de la empresa GEOSIM y la ONG Quilidangui, m\u00e1s el apoyo de la Direcci\u00f3n de Gesti\u00f3n Tecnol\u00f3gica de la Vriic.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>El cambio clim\u00e1tico est\u00e1 alterando la calidad y fertilidad de los terrenos agr\u00edcolas, al reducir su capacidad para retener nutrientes, capturar humedad y sostener la vegetaci\u00f3n. En respuesta a ese fen\u00f3meno, el uso de microorganismos como las cianobacterias, se ha consolidado como una soluci\u00f3n efectiva para revertir el problema.<\/p>\n<p>En este contexto, <b>la <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.quimicaybiologia.usach.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Facultad de Qu\u00edmica y Biolog\u00eda<\/b><\/a><b> de la Usach, a trav\u00e9s del <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/vriic.usach.cl\/index.php\/bioquimica-vegetal-y-fitorremediacion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Laboratorio de Bioqu\u00edmica Vegetal y Fitorremediaci\u00f3n<\/b><\/a><b>, avanza en el desarrollo de una herramienta biotecnol\u00f3gica multifuncional basada en estos organismos vivos, para la adaptabilidad y mitigaci\u00f3n de los suelos frente a la crisis clim\u00e1tica.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Este proyecto es liderado por la <b>Dra. Claudia Ortiz Calder\u00f3n, investigadora y directora del laboratorio<\/b>, cuenta con financiamiento de la <a href=\"https:\/\/anid.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ANID<\/a>\u00a0 m\u00e1s\u00a0 la colaboraci\u00f3n de la empresa <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/geosim.chile\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GEOSIM<\/a>, especializada en restauraci\u00f3n y rehabilitaci\u00f3n ambiental,\u00a0 y de la ONG Quilidangui. Adem\u00e1s, recibe el apoyo\u00a0 de la <a href=\"https:\/\/vriic.usach.cl\/\">Vicerrector\u00eda de Investigaci\u00f3n, Innovaci\u00f3n y Creaci\u00f3n<\/a>, a trav\u00e9s de su <a href=\"https:\/\/dgt.usach.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Direcci\u00f3n de Gesti\u00f3n Tecnol\u00f3gica<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cA nivel de laboratorio trabajamos con cianobacterias provenientes de la zona norte, particularmente del Desierto de Atacama, a las que expusimos a suelos con distintas concentraciones de salinidad. Los ensayos permitieron medir su alta capacidad para fijar carbono y nitr\u00f3geno, capturar sales, retener agua y aportar materia org\u00e1nica\u201d<\/i>,\u00a0 explica la Dra. Claudia Ortiz.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00f1ade que durante este a\u00f1o, han testeado esta soluci\u00f3n a nivel de campo, en \u00e1reas salinas, ubicadas en Pirque, en la Regi\u00f3n Metropolitana, y en Quilimar\u00ed en la comuna de Los Vilos, Regi\u00f3n de Coquimbo. A partir de los ensayos, \u201c<i>comprobamos que estos organismos vivos pueden aclimatarse a condiciones ambientales extremas, sin perder efectividad\u201d,<\/i> subraya la acad\u00e9mica.<\/p>\n<p><b>Como resultado de los avances obtenidos, el equipo present\u00f3 una solicitud de patente para resguardar la tecnolog\u00eda y al<\/b><b> t\u00e9rmino de la investigaci\u00f3n, esperan llegar a un nivel de madurez tecnol\u00f3gica de un TRL 5.<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><b>Impacto ambiental y comunitario<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>El desarrollo de esta innovaci\u00f3n ha involucrado la colaboraci\u00f3n con la empresa GEOSIM y la ONG Quilidangui, el cual es ampliamente valorado por ambas organizaciones.<\/p>\n<p><strong>F<\/strong><b>elipe Bravo R\u00edos, Gerente General de GEOSIM, sostiene que la participaci\u00f3n en el proyecto les ha permitido <\/b><b><i>\u201cacceder a una investigaci\u00f3n de vanguardia y metodolog\u00edas cient\u00edficas que enriquecen la propuesta de valor de nuestros productos y servicios\u201d.<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>A\u00f1ade que esta alianza con la academia, <b>les abre oportunidades estrat\u00e9gicas <\/b>\u201c<i>que fortalecen nuestro posicionamiento como un actor clave en sostenibilidad y desarrollo ambiental\u201d<\/i>.
