La iniciativa cont\u00f3 con la colaboraci\u00f3n de la empresa Bio insumos Nativa y Fundaci\u00f3n COPEC-UC, y fue apoyada por la Vicerrector\u00eda de Investigaci\u00f3n, Innovaci\u00f3n y Creaci\u00f3n, a trav\u00e9s de la Direcci\u00f3n de Gesti\u00f3n Tecnol\u00f3gica.<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ae5be9f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ae5be9f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">on la presentaci\u00f3n de los avances y resultados obtenidos, el martes 15 de abril se realiz\u00f3 el evento de cierre del <\/span><b>proyecto FONDEF <\/b><b><i>\u201cDesarrollo de un nuevo bactericida basado en bacteri\u00f3fagos l\u00edticos para el control biol\u00f3gico del c\u00e1ncer bacteriano en cerezos y la peca bacteriana en tomates, enfermedades causadas por Pseudomonas syringae\u201d<\/i><\/b><b>.<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">La iniciativa fue liderada por el <strong>Dr. Antonio Castillo Nara, acad\u00e9mico de la Facultad de Qu\u00edmica y Biolog\u00eda<\/strong>, junto a la Dra. <strong>Andrea Mahn Osses, acad\u00e9mica y Decana (s) de la Facultad de Ingenier\u00eda<\/strong>, quien se desempe\u00f1\u00f3 como Directora Alterna del proyecto.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El desarrollo fue posible gracias a la colaboraci\u00f3n de la empresa <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bionativa.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bio Insumos Nativa<\/a> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">y <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fcuc.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fundaci\u00f3n COPEC-UC<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, y el apoyo de la <a href=\"https:\/\/vriic.usach.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vicerrector\u00eda de Investigaci\u00f3n, Innovaci\u00f3n y Creaci\u00f3n\u00a0<\/a> (Vriic), a\u00a0 trav\u00e9s de su <a href=\"https:\/\/dgt.usach.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Direcci\u00f3n de Gesti\u00f3n Tecnol\u00f3gica<\/a> (DGT).<\/span><\/p><h2><b>Problem\u00e1tica\u00a0 actual<\/b><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Durante la actividad, el Dr. Castillo expuso los principales aspectos de este proyecto de I+D, orientado a <\/span><b>desarrollar una soluci\u00f3n de bajo impacto ambiental mediante bacteri\u00f3fagos l\u00edticos, con el fin de controlar las infecciones provocadas por el pat\u00f3geno <\/b><b><i>Pseudomonas syringae<\/i><\/b><b> en cultivos agr\u00edcolas.<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seg\u00fan explic\u00f3, una de las enfermedades m\u00e1s da\u00f1inas causadas por esta bacteria es el c\u00e1ncer bacteriano del cerezo, que \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ataca los tejidos conductores del \u00e1rbol, provocando su deterioro y, eventualmente, su muerte\u201d,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> dijo. El impacto es significativo, generando una reducci\u00f3n de la producci\u00f3n anual de hasta un 20% en \u00e1rboles adultos, y de un 40% en ejemplares m\u00e1s j\u00f3venes.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A pesar de los esfuerzos del sector agr\u00edcola por contener esta amenaza utilizando antibi\u00f3ticos y productos con compuestos de cobre, dichos m\u00e9todos han demostrado ser insuficientes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cUno de los principales problemas es la aparici\u00f3n de cepas resistentes, tanto a los antibi\u00f3ticos como a los compuestos de cobre, el cual adem\u00e1s puede contaminar los suelos y resultar t\u00f3xico para las personas<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d, se\u00f1al\u00f3 el investigador.<\/span><\/p><h2><b>Principales resultados obtenidos\u00a0<\/b><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Para dar una soluci\u00f3n m\u00e1s efectiva y a la vez inocua para el medioambiente, el equipo de investigaci\u00f3n <\/span><b>desarroll\u00f3 y valid\u00f3 una formulaci\u00f3n de un bactericida, cuyo principio activo es una mezcla de siete bacteri\u00f3fagos l\u00edticos microencapsulados, que demostraron alta eficacia tanto, en pruebas de laboratorio como en ensayos de campo.<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El Dr. Castillo explic\u00f3 que estos bacteri\u00f3fagos o fagos \u2014part\u00edculas virales que infectan y destruyen bacterias\u2014 lograron superar los mecanismos de resistencia de <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pseudomonas syringae<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ya caracterizamos y aplicamos en campo siete fagos distintos, con resultados muy positivos\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, destac\u00f3.<\/span><\/p><p><b>Adem\u00e1s, la tecnolog\u00eda de microencapsulaci\u00f3n aplicada protege a los bacteri\u00f3fagos frente a condiciones adversas del ambiente, como altas temperaturas y radiaci\u00f3n UV, que tienden a su inactivaci\u00f3n.<\/b> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cEste proceso tambi\u00e9n permite una liberaci\u00f3n lenta y prolongada sobre la superficie del vegetal, asegurando un efecto bactericida sostenido tras su aplicaci\u00f3n\u201d, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a\u00f1adi\u00f3.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Al concluir su intervenci\u00f3n, el investigador subray\u00f3 que <\/span><b>\u201cc<\/b><b><i>on los resultados obtenidos, estamos alcanzando una escala de madurez tecnol\u00f3gica cercana a un TRL 4.
