Esta tecnolog\u00eda cuenta con solicitud de patente en Chile,\u00a0 tramitaci\u00f3n apoyada por la Direcci\u00f3n de Gesti\u00f3n Tecnol\u00f3gica de la Vriic.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Los combustibles f\u00f3siles como el petr\u00f3leo, el gas o el carb\u00f3n son generadores de energ\u00eda mec\u00e1nica. Sin embargo, son grandes productores de gases de efecto invernadero, los que son responsables del calentamiento global y el cambio clim\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n<p>Para dar soluci\u00f3n a estas problem\u00e1ticas globales, los gobiernos\u00a0 y organizaciones como la ONU, han estado explorando nuevas fuentes de energ\u00eda neutras y m\u00e1s sostenibles. Entre esas alternativas se encuentra la <b>Energ\u00eda Fotovoltaica Biol\u00f3gica (BPVE), <\/b>la cual se origina tras el proceso de la fotos\u00edntesis que realizan los\u00a0 organismos vivos como las algas, al convertir\u00a0 la luz que reciben en energ\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica.<\/p>\n<p><b>Al respecto, en nuestra Universidad de Santiago se han logrado importantes avances en este tipo de energ\u00eda, gracias al desarrollo de un biofoto\u00e1nodo y un biorreactor a base de algas pluricelulares que producen electricidad y ox\u00edgeno, permitiendo purificar e ionizar el aire.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Esta investigaci\u00f3n fue liderada por el <b>Dr. Federico Tasca Gottardo, acad\u00e9mico,\u00a0 investigador y Director del Laboratorio de Cat\u00e1lisis y Bioelectrocat\u00e1lisis de la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quimicaybiologia.usach.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facultad de Qu\u00edmica y Biolog\u00eda<\/a>,<\/b> junto al <b>Ingeniero en Biotecnolog\u00eda Sergio Choque M\u00fa\u00f1oz,<\/b> quienes cuentan con un amplia trayectoria en proyectos tecnol\u00f3gicos relacionados con la generaci\u00f3n de fuentes energ\u00e9ticas.<\/p>\n<p>Tal como explica el Dr. Federico Tasca, para el desarrollo de esta tecnolog\u00eda, <i>\u201clas macroalgas se seleccionan de macroalgas fotosint\u00e9ticas verdes, rojas y marrones, espec\u00edficamente de las especies Ulva Lactuca, Ulva Compressa y Chaetomorpha Antennina, las cuales fueron cultivadas a nivel de laboratorio. En las macroalgas medimos la producci\u00f3n de fotocorriente directa y mediada, determinando cu\u00e1nto se puede potenciar la producci\u00f3n directa\u201d.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Asimismo, precisa que \u201c<i>este tipo de sistemas puede ser empleado en celdas de combusti\u00f3n microbiana (MFC), donde la producci\u00f3n de\u00a0 fotocorriente an\u00f3dica viene acompa\u00f1ada, adem\u00e1s de la producci\u00f3n de O2, en la misma celda\u201d.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Entre los beneficios que la invenci\u00f3n aporta a la industria energ\u00e9tica y medioambiente,\u00a0 est\u00e1n <i>\u201cla obtenci\u00f3n de electricidad y ox\u00edgeno de manera sostenible, eficiente y a bajo costo desde un fuente natural, donde adem\u00e1s no se da\u00f1an las algas. De esta manera, estamos frente a una nueva y viable alternativa\u00a0 para producir energ\u00edas limpias a gran escala para hogares, transportes e industrias\u201d, <\/i>comenta el investigador.<\/p>\n<p>En la actualidad, esta <b>tecnolog\u00eda Usach se encuentra con solicitud de patente en Chile, tr\u00e1mite que fue apoyado por la Direcci\u00f3n de Gesti\u00f3n
