Brenda Modak, investigadora y acad\u00e9mica de la Facultad de Qu\u00edmica y Biolog\u00eda, formul\u00f3 un aditivo alimenticio a base de un complejo de coordinaci\u00f3n de Cu(I), con ligandos cumar\u00ednicos para tratar la enfermedad producida por el pat\u00f3geno <\/b><b><i>Flavobacterium psychrophilum<\/i><\/b><b>. Esta tecnolog\u00eda se encuentra patentada en Chile, cuya tramitaci\u00f3n fue apoyada por la Direcci\u00f3n de Gesti\u00f3n Tecnol\u00f3gica de la VRIIC.<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-44195479 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"44195479\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Chile ocupa una posici\u00f3n de liderazgo en el mercado acu\u00edcola internacional<\/strong>, al ubicarse entre los diez pa\u00edses con mayor producci\u00f3n de productos del mar, de<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.latercera.com\/que-pasa\/noticia\/acuicultura-chilena-diversificada-y-sostenible-como-prioridad-pais-para-el-presente-y-futuro\/YVYHJKU3UNDWPKUVGCX6UO5LY4\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">acuerdo<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a la Organizaci\u00f3n de las Naciones Unidas para la Alimentaci\u00f3n y la Agricultura (FAO).<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El salm\u00f3n, la trucha arco\u00edris y el chorito <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mytilus chilensis, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">se encuentran entre las principales especies que son exportadas por nuestro pa\u00eds, especialmente a Europa y Asia. Sin embargo, pese al \u00e9xito en los mercados internacionales y los millones de d\u00f3lares que anualmente reportan las exportaciones, la industria acu\u00edcola nacional debe enfrentar algunos problemas que afectan el manejo sanitario de los cultivos, siendo uno de estos la <strong>prevenci\u00f3n y control de pat\u00f3genos que da\u00f1an a los peces<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Entre dichos pat\u00f3genos est\u00e1 la bacteria Gram negativa <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Flavobacterium psychrophilum, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">causante de la <strong>\u201cenfermedad bacteriana del agua fr\u00eda&#8221;<\/strong> o <strong>&#8220;s\u00edndrome de alevines de trucha arco\u00edris&#8221;<\/strong>, cuyos efectos son erosiones en la piel, \u00falceras, pigmentaci\u00f3n oscura y pudrici\u00f3n en aletas y agallas. Adem\u00e1s, las especies m\u00e1s j\u00f3venes que sufren esta infecci\u00f3n, pueden llegar a nadar de manera err\u00e1tica y con movimientos en espiral, entre otras consecuencias.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Para controlar la bacteria, los criaderos utilizan grandes cantidades de potentes antibi\u00f3ticos como clorfenicol y oxitetraciclina. Sin embargo, se ha observado una mayor resistencia a los antibi\u00f3ticos en diferentes aislados de la bacteria, especialmente para la oxitetraciclina, donde se ha reportado un porcentaje de resistencia que oscila entre el 46% y el 80%, provocando un incremento en la persistencia de <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">F. psychrophilum<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> y dando lugar a frecuentes brotes bacterianos. Ello ha derivado en un aumento de la mortalidad y considerables p\u00e9rdidas econ\u00f3micas, por lo que existe un inter\u00e9s creciente de la industria por identificar nuevas alternativas terap\u00e9uticas al uso de antibi\u00f3ticos.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En este contexto, desde nuestra <a href=\"http:\/\/usach.cl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Universidad de Santiago<\/a> se ha generado una innovadora soluci\u00f3n para controlar el <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">F. psychrophilum, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a trav\u00e9s del trabajo ejecutado por un equipo de investigaci\u00f3n, liderado por la <strong>Dra. Brenda Modak<\/strong>, investigadora y acad\u00e9mica de la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quimicaybiologia.usach.cl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facultad de Qu\u00edmica y Biolog\u00ed<\/a>a, junto a el <strong>Dr. Juan Guerrero<\/strong>, investigador y docente en la misma Facultad; <strong>Mick Parra<\/strong>, tesista del Doctorado en Biotecnolog\u00eda, y\u00a0 <strong>Maialen Aldabaldetrecu<\/strong>, egresada del Doctorado en Qu\u00edmica.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">El grupo de investigaci\u00f3n formul\u00f3 un aditivo alimenticio para peces, a base de un complejo de coordinaci\u00f3n de Cu(I), con ligandos cumar\u00ednicos para tratar la enfermedad producida por <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Flavobacterium psychrophilum<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> en estas especies.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tal como explica la Dra. Brenda Modak, este <em>\u201caditivo alimenticio se administra en combinaci\u00f3n con el alimento comercial, tanto a peces sanos como a enfermos, generando un efecto protector, disminuyendo considerablemente la mortalidad provocada por <\/em><\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">F. psychrophilum<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>. Adem\u00e1s del efecto protector en los peces, hemos determinado que el aditivo alimenticio posee actividad antibacteriana, disminuyendo significativamente la carga de este pat\u00f3geno a nivel celular\u201d<\/em>.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Asimismo, resalta que este producto es f\u00e1cil y m\u00e1s sencillo de administrar a los peces, en comparaci\u00f3n con las vacunas convencionales inyectables, que no siempre es un m\u00e9todo amigable para las especies e incluso, hasta pueden da\u00f1ar su piel o estresarlas.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">En cuanto a los beneficios que la invenci\u00f3n puede traer a la industria acu\u00edcola, se encuentran la optimizaci\u00f3n en los est\u00e1ndares de sanidad, manejo y crianza de peces.
